Melos Rosin for Violin, Viola & Cello
Made in Greece of high quality pine-tree resin, Melos violin, viola, cello and bass rosins are produced in two formulas: Light & Dark. The Light formula is recommended for use in higher temperatures (spring or summer), for smoother playing styles or for solo in chamber music. The Dark type is for lower temperatures (autumn or winter), for full-tone playing, in an orchestra, or for solo concerts. Specifically for cello, on musicians’ demand, Melos also created Sticky Rosin; softer and with more bite than Melos Dark.
Melos Rosin Violin Light grips the strings softer than the rest of Melos' violin products, offering silky and warm sound qualities, without any unexpected noises or dust, in all kinds of bowing techniques. This cake is designed to efficiently deliver high and medium wave frequencies and is specially produced to endure high temperatures, during spring or summer.
Melos Rosin Violin Dark grips the strings harder, offering strong and full-tone sound qualities, without any unexpected noises or dust, in all kinds of bowing techniques. This cake is designed to efficiently deliver high and medium wave frequencies and is specially produced to endure low temperatures, during autumn or winter.
Each and every rosin cake is made exclusively by hand. Minor deformities are corollaries of the natural origin of the ingredients used and the handmade process, without using any kind of machinery that could potentially lower the products’ quality.
